MAJOR Catch-up: Camping Adventures

So, here it is...December 22nd. A full 6 months since my last post, and now I'm cramming in half a year into the next few posts! My New Years resolution...keep this thing more up to date!! Let's dive right in....

CAMPING ADVENTURES
*Desoto State Park - July*
We had a blast at Desoto! Our spot was so amazing! It had a ton of room for the kids to play and even had a secret trail that led to a creek behind our site. We did a lot of hiking and even got a little turned around at one point and spent like 3 hours in the woods 😆 There were so many things to explore though. Waterfalls, creeks, overlooks... It may have ended in destruction (literally), but this was a great campground!

Now something that I wish I could forget...on our way home, about a mile from the campground, a lifeguard at the campground pool ran a stop sign and slammed into our poor camper :( Everyone was ok, but we were irate to say the least. Our brand new beautiful camper! We only got 4 trips with her and boom...she was a goner :( We spent about 2 months getting everything sorted out and ended up with a new (and improved!) camper. It all worked out, but we may be a little timid towards Desoto for a while!

*Smith Lake Park*
In the sad time of not having a camper, our class went to Smith Lake for the weekend. We ended up being able to go for the day. It was fun, but honestly, not the greatest for camping. The kids had a blast, though. Give them a lake and some ditches to play in...they are "happy campers"!!

*Monte Sano*
Another day trip...this time in Huntsville while we were visiting Nonny and Poppy!

We'll see you again soon, Monte Sano!!

*Joe Wheeler - August*
And...we're back at it!! So happy to have a camper again! We upgraded a little bit and got one that is just right! Off to Joe Wheeler! This was a fun place with another killer spot! We didn't stay on the water, but the boys found another trail behind our site that went down to the water. The most memorable thing was all the deer! They were all over the place! We went up to the lodge to swim and we saw no less that 10 on that small stretch of road. Mommas and lots of babies! The pool was really nice and right on the lake.

"Bye-bye" Joe Wheeler! Thanks for the fun!!!

*Wind Creek - September*
OUR NEW FAVORITE PLACE!!! Seriously though...this was such an awesome trip! Great weather, beautiful lake, great site, lots of things to explore, fun playgrounds, good bike riding, climbing the lookout, and even seeing shooting stars! (for me, at least) 😃

"Fisher's Island" in the distance

The spot where we found our rock!

These flowers are now in a bookmark in my Bible 💗

Named this spot "Fisher's Island" because the precious boy found an "F"!! It was marked just for him!!

This little dude is just too cool!
Wind Creek was amazing and did not disappoint in any way. Can not WAIT to get back there!!

*Monte Sano - September/Oct*
Back at Monte Sano to stay this time! We took a class trip and had a great time (except for the small amount of time that I lost poor Fisherman 😟). Sorry baby doll.

Such silly little monkeys!!!

There was a Momma and 3 baby deer that kept hanging out behind our campsites! The babies were only a few weeks old!! LOVE!!!

*Noccalula Falls - November*
We went off for another adventure with the Raabs! We were originally headed to Tannehill, but it was the last Trade Day weekend...too busy. A lot of other places were full, but Noccalula worked out perfectly! We had great weather (one short stormy time), big fires, lots of good food, and great memories made!!

We are taking a short hiatus from camping. Christmas activities have had us tied up all of December. We can't wait to get back out there in January. We have some awesome places to check into soon!!
