Stay-cation after a failed Vacation

On our way back from the previously mentioned Savannah disaster, I made Derek promise that we could do some fun family things. We were already off for 2 more days, why not take advantage? We took Jonah to the McWane Center. It was a big hit!

Of course, hit favorite thing was the water table. We could go back and just play at this table, and he would be perfectly happy!

Watching the big kid show him how it's done

Mommy liked playing, too!

Splish...splash!

Got a little bit in his eye ;)

Loving the waterfall!

Sweet sweet baby with his chubby wubby cheeks!

Tiny little munchkin!

Making his fishy face

So serious doing his math

He has seen mommy doing this a time or two!

BEEP, BEEP!!!!!

I'm so glad that we were able to get out and have fun together. Jonah was happy and playing the entire time. He seemed to really love it. We will definitely have to revisit the McWane Center :)

Mini Vaca...very mini

We had a great room overlooking
river street. A huge barge was
coming by right when we got
there. He loved watching the big
boat go by!
Did we remember everything?!?!
We wanted to go on a family vacation somewhere new. We decided a couple months back to go to Savannah! I've always wanted to see the historic district and walk down River Street. We were going to stay 3 nights and just enjoy a little family time together. Well...that went horribly awry. We left on Saturday and noticed that morning and on the drive that Jonah B was coughing a lot. I didn't think much about it, because he had a really snotty nose. I thought it was just from drainage, no big deal. He did great on the drive, and we had a lot of fun walking around Savannah that evening.

He tried so hard to get into the big tub!
Still trying...the kid loves water!
Just wanted to hold dada's hand. My sweet angel boy :)
Eating at Spanky's. It was a cute family restaurant. Jonah ate some of my
chicken and green peppers from my wrap.

Sweet little side kiss...I'll take it!!!

Our room at the Holiday Inn Express. Derek refused to stay in any of the bed and breakfast places. He didn't want to stay anywhere "haunted"...haha!

Well, so far, this sounds like your average vacation. See the sites, eat some good food, and take advantage of the pretty photo opps. This is where our story turns. That night we went to bed around 10:00 and were woken up around 2:00 am by none other that Jonah B. He was up for the next 3 hours coughing. Anytime we laid him down, or made any movement at all, he would cough, and cough, and cough, and cough. He was miserable. We were, too! He wanted to sleep, but he just couldn't. We tried everything from another bottle, to sleeping sitting up while holding him, and Derek even walked with him around the hotel lobby for a while. He finally went to sleep for a couple of hours and then was up again. We were so frustrated and sleep deprived, we decided to find a walk-in clinic, just to be sure everything was ok. We found a 24/7 clinic in the historic district, only 1/2 mile away. Ok, perfect, let's go! We call and actually get the on-call doctor who tells us to be there at 9. We get there and go inside to a tiny waiting room with 2 ladies at the front desk. They tell us up front (although it would have been nice to know over the phone earlier) that they don't take any insurance. We would have to pay upfront and file with insurance later. Ok fine, we say. He needs to be checked. I casually told Derek we would have to pay for any labs, since I wanted him checked for mycoplasma. They then tell us that they do not have the capability to perform any labs or xrays. REALLY? So you look at your patients, give them medicine, and send them on their way. How about knowing for sure what you're treating? I guess that's asking too much. She tells me that no one in the area has that capability and if we wanted tests done, we would have to take him to the nearest hospital. No, thank you. We walked right out of that sketch zone. Google found the next closest place. Guess what...they were a normal walk-in clinic! We headed that way. After about 2 1/2 hours and 3 xray attempts, we find out he has a bilateral ear infection, but no pneumonia. Could have been worse! Ear infection seriously was the last thing on my mind. I never thought that was the culprit. We got antibiotics and went on our way.
Playing in the urgent care waiting room

Poor baby getting his xray. He SCREAMED! I think people back home in Gdale could hear him!

After all the drama overnight, the stress at the doctor's office, and the nasty rainy weather...we were done. We got a refund for the remaining nights at the hotel and hit the road. I was sad that I didn't get to see all that I wanted to see, but it was best for Squish. We didn't want to have another bad night in the hotel that made everybody miserable. And of course, Jonah has been a perfect angel since we got home. He is just not a good traveler, I guess! No more vacations out of a 2 hour radius for Jonah B anytime soon!

Jonah is 11 months old!

My very favorite face that he makes.
I love that little grin!
I didn't do a 10 month update, so I have lots to talk about! He is a now 11 months old and too big for his britches! He started walking around 10 1/2 months (March 3, 2013). Now he's just cruising all over. He walks now more than he crawls. I love to see his little munchkin legs waddling around the living room! He's trying to talk more and more. Of course he says mama and dada. He has said bye a couple of times and he will say nono (which we think is Nonny!). He is getting super smart, too! We can ask him "where is dada" and he will look at Derek. Same thing for mama and dog. Today though, we were in the den and I asked him  "where is dada?" Derek was right behind him, but instead Jonah crawled over to the bookshelf, where a pic of our family was and put his hand on dada's face! So smart :)
He loves to be outside, no matter what he is doing. We've also discovered that he just likes to people watch. He takes it all in. He gets such good reports from school, too. They say he is such an easy baby and never causes any trouble. He eats like a little piggy and takes good naps. One day a storm came through and the power went out. They told us Jonah was the only one that didn't get upset. He just looked around at the other crying babies. He's our brave little toaster!

He wears mostly size 12 mo clothes (although he has been known to throw on 18 mo here and there) and size 4 diapers. He eats table food for the most part now. He has had all kinds of food and loves it all. The only thing that he doesn't really care for is mandarin oranges. I have no idea what it is about them that he doesn't like. He moved up to the big boy tub, finally. I kept trying to keep him cooped up on the baby tub, but he wasn't having it. It's really cute to watch him crawl around in the big tub, though!

He has started to share his food. Sometimes he will fake you out.
He will act like he's giving you a bite, then eat it himself and just smile!
He knows he's being silly!

Pardon this weird pic, but we were excited about his new teeth.
He now has 4 on the top and still those same 2 beaver teeth on the bottom.
It's so cute to hear him crunch Cheerios in his front teeth. It's not cute, however, to hear him
grinding his teeth...hate that sound!

Cool dude loving the great outdoors. That bumbo it getting a little
tight, but we can still squish those chubby little legs in there!

He loves his dada so much! They will wrestle and laugh and just
play so cute together. My boys :)

Jonah gives kisses! And let me say...they are THE sweetest kisses
in the whole wide world! Sometimes they are a little sloppy,
but that's just Squish sharing his sugar :)
Also, poppy taught him how to give fives. We like teaching him new tricks.

Big boy's first kid's meal...Chik fil a grilled nuggets and side of fruit.
Notice the mandarin oranges are untouched, haha!

Naked hiney in the big boy tub!

He loves playing in the tub

He has formed quite the attachment to his Gaffy.
I bought this paci thing for him before he was born. He never
cared for the paci, but in the past couple of months, he has really been loving
carrying this thing around. He will take him to bed and wake up holding him. It's just precious!

He still sleeps really good. As long as he's not sick (then he turns
into a little night terror!). He usually sleeps around 10 hours a night.
Sometimes he won't even wake up when it's time for school!

Love my little family so very much :)
