Beach Babe

Once again, I've found myself behind on my blogging. We went to the beach (our first big family vaca with little britches) 2 weeks ago. It was really nice to get away for a week and "relax" at the beach. I say "relax" because it was a little more stressful than our usual vacations. We'll start from the beginning. Jonah did so good on the ride down to Destin. He ended up playing Baby Einstein for him (the ocean themed one) for a while and he stayed happy most of the way. Our first couple of days went well.

We took him down to the beach the first night to put his toes in the sand and the water. He really liked watching the water come in and out. He would just look at the waves and squeal! Cutie!

The next day we tried taking him out on the beach. He did good for a short time, but then needed a nap (of course) and ended up sleeping in his wagon while mommy laid out at the pool and daddy swam!

By the third day he started to get really fussy and WOULD NOT sleep at night. We put him in the bed with us most nights (which I never do). It was the only way to get him to sleep for a couple of hours at a time. We found ourselves in an Urgent Care walk-in clinc...ear infection! Poor thing started antibiotics, but we only had 2 days left so they didn't really start working in time for him to be a happy boy again. It just made me sad that he was hurting the whole time. All stress aside, it was still very nice to all get together have a good time at the beach. We love the condo we stayed in. It's actually the same one from last year. I made the comment that Jonah B had been there before, in Mommy's belly! We ate some yummy food and had some beautiful weather all but one day. We were actually under a tornado warning for a short time. Me and mom were out shopping and Derek called and said the weather was getting nasty. We headed back in torential rainfall. Other than that one day, it was sunny and perfect temps!

New trick he learned while at the beach...

You can do it!!!

Yay Jonah B!!!!!!!!!!

We had so much fun and can't wait to go again. We are talking about going in late spring, around his birthday! We'll see :)

Mommy's Little Punkin

Last weekend we decided to take Jonah B to the pumpkin patch! Well, I decided and Derek went along with it! We were also trying to pack up for our week long beach trip (details to come in my next post) so we really had to cram this trip in. We had a very busy few days, and honestly, I'm not sure how everything got accomplished!

Mommy and Jonah on my last day of full-time work!!!!
Well, let me back up to Friday. It was my last day at Greenvale Pediatrics. I wasn't as sad as I thought I would be, but I think that's mainly because my mind was on our vacation. It really hasn't set in yet that I won't be going back. Either way, I would have been gone this week on vacation, so it still feels like I will go back on Monday. There are some people there who I will truly miss. It was a really great place to work, and deep down I wish I wasn't leaving. However, spending more time with my Jonah will make everything worth it!

So, back to the Pumpkin Patch...We decided to go to Old Baker Farm in Harpersville. It was SO cute! It had a corn maze, hay maze, petting farm, a big cotton-filled cage that the big kids could run and jump in, and a true authentic pumpkin patch. I knew it was an actual patch where they grew, but I did not know how intense it would be. We had to walk through thigh-high pumpkin stalks, or whatever it is that they grow on! I really enjoyed it though. Sometimes I wonder about these other places, if they buy their pumpkins and then throw them out in an open field. Not fun. Squish did really good! He especially loved the mule driven wagon ride out to the patch. Here are some pics from our day!

Love the sugars dripping from his chin!

Photo shoot fail! He wanted to eat everything!!!

This was the wagon ride he enjoyed so much. Love my sweet!!!

Daddy looks thrilled here...

Love this! My boys heading out into the pumpkin patch!

Found the perfect one :)

He was SO over photos by the end of our trip. I love how
his belly looks like the pumpkin!!! hehehe

Crouping and Rolling!

I have some sad news and then some really exciting news...We'll start with the sad news.
Baby boy got the croup! Sunday morning he woke up with the classic barky hoarse cough. Later in the day he got a fever up to 101.6. I was pretty sure that's what was going on so we did all the basic stuff...humidifier, suctioned his nose, sat in the steamy bathroom, etc. Sunday night was aweful. He was so miserable he couldn't sleep, but he was SO exhausted. We finally got him to sleep from about 12-4 in his bouncy seat. Then he slept from about 4:30-7 in his bouncy seat again. Monday morning we ended up taking  him to the doctor just be sure that nothing else was needed. Dr. Bill was out all week, so we saw Kiki and D's doctor, Dr. Wamack. He was really really nice. Hopefully that will continue once I work for him ;) He said it was definetely croup. Ears and throat looked good, though. He said we were doing things right and to continue what we had done Sunday. He actually said that Jonah did better than usual for the first night of croup. Probably because mommy and daddy were such good nurses to him! Also, he gave Jonah B two days worth of Orapred.
He still gives us a smile every now and then :)
He still had a fever up to 101.8 on Monday, but today (Tues) he has been fever-free. He's sleeping a lot, like all day! He's also not eating very well. Instead of 7oz, he's taking more like 2-3oz. He just wants to sleep, poor thing. I'm just sad because I have to go back to work tomorrow and send him to daycare. He's so needy, his teachers really have their work cut out for them!

Now for the exciting news!!! Jonah FINALLY rolled over!!! I don't know if it's the steroids he's on or what, but he did it! We have been wondering when he was going to roll his little hiney over. He just took his sweet time and did it when he felt like it. He rolled over for the first time yesterday (10/1) and then did it again today. We are so very proud of our Squishy! I'm also really happy that I got to see it, and he didn't do it at daycare! Can't wait to see what that little stinker boy will do next! Love you Jonah B!!!!
