17 week Q&A

I've gotta give credit...I stole this from my sis-in-law, Ashley. I thought it was really cute and a fun thing to do so here we go...

Total weight gain/loss?9lbs

Maternity clothes? Mostly in pants, but a mix of regular/maternity tops

Sleep? I wake up around 3:00 every  morning like clockwork to go potty, but can usually go back to sleep pretty easily.

Best moment this week? Finding out for sure that my angel is a little boy and is growing big and healthy.

Movement? I've seen squirming on the ultrasounds, but I can't feel it yet :(

Food cravings? Salty foods and anything in buffalo sauce.

Belly button in/out? In

What I miss: Drinking more sweet tea than I am allowed now

What I am looking forward to: Feeling my baby kicking and getting the nursery painted.

Milestones: 3 weeks away from halfway there!!!

*It's A Boy*

A lot has been going on lately. Yesterday, we had our 17 week checkup at the doctor. Dr. Benton said that everything was looking good! I have gained 3lbs since my last checkup, my blood pressure was great, and the heartbeat was strong and beautiful. I did tell Dr. Benton about my headaches I've been having. Saturday I had a migraine when I woke up that lasted a few hours. The rest of the day I just had a pounding annoying headache that Tylenol, food, caffeine, or water wouldn't help. She said that unfortunately that's normal and there's not always something that will help it. It just has to run it's course. Today (Tuesday) was our ultrasound to confirm what we "think" we already know. At our 13 week ultrasound, we thought it was a boy. We were pretty sure, but I had to be certain. Well, we are definitely having a boy! He was not shy AT ALL! We got some pretty good pics for proof. He just looks so cute. It appears he might have my little flip nose. I love it!!! They said he weighs about 7oz right now. His heartbeat was around 153. All is well :)
We made the big announcement to everyone, and we have gotten back so much positive feedback. It's really nice to have so many supportive people and sweet friends in my life. Our next checkup will be at 20 weeks. It's a pretty big one, too. They will do another ultrasound to check all of the organs closely and make sure they are forming correctly. I'm very nervous and just hope and pray that all will come out normal and healthy. Can't wait to see my little man again! Here are the pictures from today...
He's got four fingers up to his lips about to stick them in his mouth!
Sweet baby sucking that thumb already

I think he has my nose in this picture.

Yeah, there no arguing with that! lol

Beach Baby

This weekend was Jonah's first trip to the beach. Although, he couldn't see it for himself, I know he enjoyed it :) I finally went on a vacation with my parents for the first time in 2 years. We went to Destin and had such a great time! We had never been to Destin before, but we have already decided to go back on our next beach vacation. Some highlights...great weather (most days), extreme shopping for Jonah, Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company, crazy waiter at Tommy Bahama's that kept name dropping, my wardrobe strike when I couldn't breathe, the biggest waves I've ever seen at the beach, giant man-eating jelly fish, delish breakfast at the Donut Hole, and the beautiful clear water every day. It was such a great trip, and I was really sad to leave :( On Saturday (the cold day) me and mom went shopping for JB. We got SO much stuff, he is set for a while! I just couldn't stop buying! It's so much fun getting little outfits for my sweet baby boy. I want to spoil him rotten! We've already been talking about how excited we are to take him to the beach next year! Here are a few pics from our trip...

Very nice place to eat, but the waiter was SO annoying!

Love this man!
Jonah's loot! He is so spoiled.

LOVED this place so much! It was so much fun!!!

Surprise, Surprise!

We went today for our 13 week checkup. We were just going to see Dr. Benton for a few short minutes, then leave. However, my impatience took over. I decided to have another ultrasound done, just out of curiosity. We had to pay extra for it, but it turned out to be totally worth it. We were watching the screen, while baby was moving like crazy! Kicking, turning, rolling around. I was watching the sweet little angel, and I said "I wish I knew what to call you." The girl looked at us and said she knew what we are having. IT'S A BOY! I was so shocked! That was not the purpose for this ultrasound. I'm only 13 weeks! She said that it was very obvious, and she wouldn't have told us if she wasn't so sure. I'm still a little apprehensive, so I'll feel much better when it's confirmed at our 20 week appointment. It's so amazing to me to see the difference that 4 weeks can make. Here are some pics of my sweet Jonah Brandon!!!

Jonah kicking mommy! He was moving and kicking so much!

Widdle baby foot and tiny winy toes!

                                                                           It's official!!!

He gave me a little thumbs up to let me know he's doing just fine :)

My little punkin!

I am 12 weeks today! It feels at this point like time is slowly creeping by. I really don't know how I'm even going to be patient enough for my 20 week appointment, much less April 29th!!! One sign of my impatience...I bought a hand-held doppler. It is the greatest thing. I can listen to my sweet baby's heartbeat anytime I want to! It actually picks up very well. The heart rate has been in the 160s every time. The old wives tale says that higher heart rates are girls...we shall see! But, I highly recommend getting a doppler :)
In other news, we went to the pumpkin patch today! It was really hot, but a lot of fun. Sweet Dylan had a lot of fun, until it was time to leave. We got our pumpkins, and I even found the perfect one for jelly bean!

It's Official!

We had our first doctor's appointment today, and it could not have gone any better. I was so nervous, but Dr. Benton was so sweet and made me feel really comfortable. We started out by sitting with her in her office and just talking about a few things, then came the exam, ultrasound, blood work, etc... When it came time for the ultrasound, we were really excited. Finally being able to see baby on that monitor just took my breath away. They turned on the sound and we got to hear the heartbeat! It was by far the most amazing thing I have ever heard in my life. I immediately started crying. I could see the tiny little heartbeat in the middle of the baby blob on the screen. It was such a special moment for me and Derek. The US tech said that baby's heart rate was 176 and strong. She said that was really good. We got a few printouts but this one is my fav...
I love how you can actually see the little arm and leg nubs! My sis-in-law called it a little gummy bear which was hilarious to me!
I am a terrible secret-keeper, so I totally spilled the beans and made it facebook official this afternoon. I just couldn't keep it in anymore. We were on cloud 9 after this appointment and I needed to share my excitement with the world! I am now 8wks and 2 days. My due date is April 29, 2012. Please let this day come soon!!!!!!

Start Spreading The News

Last Sunday we went to Madison to surprise my parents with the big news. I wanted to come up with a cute way to tell them. I ended up using my artistic skills to make a t-shirt. They had absolutely no idea we were coming. We showed up at around 9:00 and they were so happy just to see us there, but then my mom saw my shirt and started crying and hugging and freaking out. All we talked about for the rest of the day was baby names, nursery decorating ideas, and when we were going to go shopping!
Me and Derek
Me and my momma

Mom and Dad
My Bro Tanner
We had already told my sis-in-law and her family. It's really going to be neat because she's pregnant too! We will be going through this together. Plus the guys will have each other to complain to! The next day we told Derek's mom. She was so excited that she's having 2 grandbabies coming into this world so close together. So, for now we are keeping it a secret from our friends. It's still early on, 3 more weeks until our doctor's appointment! Feels like a lifetime. I'm feeling ok right now, just tired and I get dizzy easily. No morning sickness yet! Really dreading that part...

Here We Go!

August 19, 2011

For the past 4 months, I have been anxiously and impatiently waiting for this day. The day that I would wake up, take yet another pregnancy test and actually see that beautiful plus sign! I have to admit that I have taken quite a few pregnancy tests over the last few months. Instead of waiting, I kept deciding to jump the gun and take them early. Of course, I got negative after negative. I began to get pretty discouraged after the first couple of months. I started worrying that something was wrong. Why was this taking so long? So, this morning when I decided to take another test, I had in the back of my mind that I shouldn’t get upset if it was negative again. I just had to know. Couldn’t wait. Then I saw what will forever change my life. A blue plus sign! I couldn’t believe it. I actually said out loud “is this really happening?” I went to my husband Derek and asked him if I was wishfully seeing things, or was there really a plus sign? He confirmed that I wasn’t just crazy. We honestly didn’t know what to do at that point. I remembered that I still had one more digital test in the cabinet.  I just had to see the test say “pregnant.” A few minutes later we were both hovered over that blinking hourglass sign waiting for the results. PREGNANT!
I jumped up and down, screaming and crying. We were thrilled beyond belief. We went right out to Books a million and purchased What to expect when you’re expecting. I just wanted to read something about what was going on. I’m a nurse, and I’ve studied pregnancy and childbirth, but it’s so much different when it’s actually happening in your life and not just in a textbook. There are so many things running through my mind right now. I’m excited, nervous, anxious, praying everything will be ok, afraid something could go wrong, wondering what Derek is really thinking, DYING to tell my family and friends, wondering if I will be a good mother, if I will actually be able to give this child everything that I want to give him/her. I guess for now, I will just have to wait until my first doctor’s appointment…in 4 weeks! Don’t know how I’m going to last. To my sweet little teeny tiny dot….I love you more than anything and I can’t wait to meet you!
